The Centre

The idea of creating a centre of excellence in the field of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism (CEDM) was conceived in 2014. We have identified an unmet need in the aforementioned fields and our objective is to fill this gap and offer services comparative to well-known international centres. In the first instance we offer services in endocrinology, diabetes, clinical dietetics and nutrition, through one-to-one or multi-disciplinary team (MDT) appointments. We are expanding these services as we go along and strive to keep improving with time.

We are very enthusiastic about patient education and initiatives to improve the health of the general public. We have previously published endocrinology, diabetes and diet-related articles in the popular press (newspapers and magazines) and have given lectures in various meetings in our local community. Moreover, we are involved in teaching and training, whether that involves medical students, junior doctors and other health-care professionals.

Finally, we have a keen interest in research and we have previously published research articles in various peer-reviewed international journals. We are continuously involved in various research projects; our ongoing research interests include thyroid disease, diabetes, obesity, the Mediterranean diet and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). We have presented on multiple occasions in various international, national (UK & Cyprus) and regional (UK & Cyprus) conferences. We have regularly contributing as peer-reviewers for various international journals, including The BMJ (British Medical Journal) and we have been participating on the editorial board of the International Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism and the Archives of Hellenic Medicine medical journals.
